IAABG Scientific Research Fund Project Evaluation Meeting Held in Chongqing
On March 30, 2024, the Scientific Research Fund Project Evaluation Meeting organized by the Scientific Research and Academic Working Committee of the IAABG was successfully held in Chongqing.
According to the 2023 Annual Research Fund Project Application Guidelines and project management work arrangement, prior to the meeting, experts organized by the the Scientific Research and Academic Working Committee conducted initial reviews of the submitted project applications. Four projects have progressed to the on-site evaluation, which are: study on the application of a novel antibacterial sustained-release composite hydrogel dressing system made from platelet-rich plasma in wound healing; hPSCs-derived reagent red blood cells and its application in patients with multiple myeloma; identification of AIHA pathogenic factors and their precise transfusion application based on gene sequencing and multi-omics technology; study on the distribution and frequency analysis of unexpected antibodies in the Ningxia population. Based on the project content, the IAABG specifically invited Director Dong Xiang from the Shanghai Blood Center, Director Rong Gui from Xiangya Third Hospital of Central South University, Director Xiaofei Li from Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, Director Guiqiu Shan from the General Hospital of Southern Theater Command, and Professor Quanli Wang, Chairman of the IAABG, to be evaluators for this assessment.
First, Professor Quanli Wang, Chairman of the IAABG, delivered a welcoming address and provided an overview of the research funding projects for 2023 and the preliminary review process. Subsequently, the four project leaders reported on their respective projects from multiple dimensions, covering research background, content, objectives, assessment indicators, task decomposition, and technical approach, and responded to questions from the experts. The review panel engaged in detailed discussions and voting based on the content and quality of the project applications, as well as the on-site project presentations and responses.
Finally, Professor Rong Gui, Chairman of the Scientific Research and Academic Working Committee, announced the results of the project evaluation. All four projects successfully passed this evaluation; however, the four project leaders are required to make additional adjustments and optimizations to their proposals following the feedback from the expert review and to draft a project task statement. This will be formally approved after a subsequent review by the evaluation experts, following which the association will allocate project funding in accordance with research fund management regulations. Additionally, Professor Rong Gui indicated that the Scientific Research and Academic Working Committee will channel more funding resources into research topics that concentrate on the application of new technologies and methods in the field of transfusion. The application guidelines for the 2024 research fund projects will be released by the end of April, officially initiating the research project plan for the year 2024.
