A New IAABG Training Base (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) for Blood Type Serology and Genetic Testing at the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology


To promote communication and learning among professionals in immunohematology, blood type genomics, molecular biology, and related fields both domestically and internationally, facilitate the clinical promotion and application of new technologies and products, enhance the testing capabilities of clinical transfusion medicine staff, as well as to ensure the safety and efficacy of clinical transfusions, the IAABG has decided to collaborate with medical institutions, higher education institutions, research organizations, or enterprises to establish training bases in accordance with management regulations.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, actively sought to be designated as a "Training Base (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) for Blood Type Serology and Genetic Testing" as outlined in the association’s documents. After the hospital submitted the necessary materials as per the application requirements, the association's leadership conducted a preliminary review and confirmed that it met the criteria set by the association. On December 27, 2024, the IAABG carried out an on-site review and evaluation in Baotou, Inner Mongolia.

The expert panel attentively listened to the introduction of the training base, reviewed relevant materials, conducted an on-site inspection of the training venue, teaching facilities and equipment, instructional materials, and faculty qualifications, observed practical teaching, and posed questions. Following a thorough assessment, deliberation, and evaluation, the expert panel expressed full affirmation and unanimously approved the acceptance.

The awarding ceremony of the IAABG Training Base (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) for Blood Type Serology and Genetic Testing was held on December 28 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. This historic moment was witnessed by over one hundred transfusion department directors and colleagues from various hospitals.

 

 

  

Leaders and experts participating in this ceremony include: Quanli Wang, chairman of the IAABG, Hong Zhao, deputy director of Baotou Health Committee, Party committee secretary Zhigang Sun and Vice president Xin Zhang, the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, Shijie Mu, director of the Transfusion Department of Tangdu Hospital, and Tianwei Yu, director of the Transfusion Department of Inner Mongolia Hospital, Beijing Cancer Hospital.

The training base is equipped with multifunctional conference rooms and comprehensive training and teaching facilities, creating an optimal teaching environment. It also possesses a diverse range of teaching modes, as well as a mentorship team with extensive training and expertise in education and technical skills, which enables the effective implementation of training in blood type serology and genetic testing.

Director Qiao Shu, head of the training base, stated that under the leadership and support of the IAABG, collaboration with prominent experts in the transfusion industry will be established to continuously strengthen the training of professional talent. A learning platform for theoretical instruction and technical practice will be developed, and a series of training programs on blood type serology and genetic testing technology will be conducted. This initiative aims to effectively address hot issues and pressing challenges in clinical blood usage and actively promote the enhancement of clinical transfusion therapy standards in the Inner Mongolia
